Description
66358010060. Axsain is indicated for the temporary relief of neuralgia pain
MANUFACTURER
RODLEN LABORATORIES.
INDICATIONS
Axsain is indicated for the temporary relief of neuralgia pain, including painful diabetic neuropathy (PDN) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) , when used under the supervision of a physician. Axsain is particularly useful as adjunctive therapy for PDN and PHN patients experiencing incomplete pain relief despite taking oral antiepileptics or tricyclic antidepressants.
INGREDIENTS
Axsain contains capsaicin USP.
DIRECTIONS
Apply a thin film of Axsain to the affected area 2 to 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor, and gently rub in until fully absorbed. Applications fewer than 2 times a day may cause the burning sensation to persist longer and may not provide optimum pain relief. It is recommended that disposable plastic gloves be worn when applying Axsain in order to reduce the chance of transferring residual cream to eyes, mucous membranes or other areas of the body. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after applying Axsain.
WARNINGS
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Do not use if you have a known sensitivity to capsaicin, local anesthetics, or to any other ingredient in Axsain. Axsain should be used with caution in patients receiving Class I antiarrhythmic drugs (such as tocainide and mexiletine) since the toxic effects of these drugs are additive and potentially synergistic. Do not use on children under 10 years of age. When using this product, a burning sensation often occurs initially at the site of application, but generally diminishes or disappears with regular use as directed. Do not apply in large quantities or to wounds or damaged skin. Avoid contact with mucous membranes, eyes, or contact lenses. If this occurs, rinse the affected area thoroughly with cool water. Avoid inhaling airborne material from dried residue. This can result in coughing, sneezing, throat or respiratory irritation. Do not bandage tightly or apply heat to the Axsain-treated area immediately before or after use. Contact a physician immediately if difficulty breathing or swallowing occurs. If condition worsens, or does not improve with regular use, discontinue use of this product and consult your physician. If you are pregnant or breast feeding, check with your physician before using this product. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
